I am Janet, also known as Paddy (from my time in the Army Reserves) or JD.
I'm an Associate Engineer currently working in FinTech and building Power Apps on the Microsoft Power Platform. My career path showcases a transition from the control industry to the tech sector, demonstrating adaptability and a commitment to continuous learning.
My key skills include team working, mentoring, customer service, adaptability,
and communication. I have experience managing a small project team,
mentoring junior staff, and leading stand-ups in an SAFe agile environment.
My professional journey includes roles in various industries,
from field services engineering in the oil and gas sector to retail and hospitality.
This diverse background has contributed to my versatility and customer service skills.
I'm actively involved in the tech community as a Co-Organiser for codebar in Birmingham,
where I help organise coding sessions for underrepresented groups in tech.
My commitment to professional development is evident through my recent completion of a
Diploma in Web Application Development from Code Institute and various other courses
in cloud computing, data analytics, and web technologies.
I've also participated in hackathons, demonstrating practical application of my skills.
Educationally, despite being dyslexic, I hold a PGCert in Software and Systems Security
and a BEng(Hons) in Electronic and Electrical Engineering.
My interests extend beyond technology, including creative pursuits like silversmithing
for jewellry, as well as tortoise husbandry and cooking.
Overall, my profile presents me as a versatile, continuously learning professional
who has successfully transitioned into the tech industry, bringing a wealth of diverse experiences and a strong foundation in both hardware and software technologies.
